Scouting is......a worldwide youth
movement with the stated aim of supporting young people in their
physical, mental and spiritual development, so that they may play constructive
roles in society. That sounds great but what does it really mean?
Scouting isn’t just for your childhood it’s for life. Scouting is not bound to any religion, creed or faith it is truly multi denominational and represented all over the world. Scouting is all inclusive Boys and Girls, able bodied and more challenged children from the full spectrum of skin colours are Scouts. Scouts are a family that will always be therefore you once you have joined. For a potted history click here. The 17th are... ...based near Mayfield Primary School in Lytham St. Annes. We are a very busy Scout Group with two Beaver Scout colonies, a large Cub Scout pack and a big Scout section. We do many activities from games and crafts to camps and climbing, our A to Z would be Archery to Zorbing. We have qualified Archery, Shooting, Climbing and Canoeing leaders. The young and the older people that join us can do many activities that broaden their horizons and make their free time productive and enjoyable. We are part of the Fylde District and have access to many fantastic facilities including an indoor climbing wall and shooting range (not in the same room). Over the last year we have lost some of our facilities to two seperate arson attacks but those will not stop us and we are currently fund raising to build a new and improved District headquarters so that we can move forward in the 21st century. We as Scouters want to have a positive impact on young people’s
lives, their whole lives, not just the few years where they are known as
children.
